Spinel

Spinel is a gem species in its own right, with its own logic of rarity and its own map of sources—flame red from Burma, luminous pink from Mahenge, cobalt blue from Luc Yen, a spectrum reaching vivid magenta and dawn orange. In red spinel, chromium gives the color and iron suppresses fluorescence; where iron is very low, fluorescence is fully expressed and the stone stays clear of dark tone, spinel's most common quality failing—the purity the trade term "Jedi spinel" describes. JUSTLEE curates only natural, untreated spinels of pure hue, led by rare, high-carat red spinels of Jedi grade.
